Chiropractor Information

What is Chiropractic?

What if many of your musculoskeletal disorders and discomforts could be treated without you having to take any drugs? What if there was no need to use chemicals to make a difference in the health of your body and certain physical exercies could do the deed without you having to face the side effects of any prescription drugs? A chiropractor believes in just that and treats the bodily disorders using physical manipulation techniques rather than allopathic drugs that intervene with the normal functioning of the body.

What is Chiropractic?

Alternate medicine has grown and garnered popularity because of how it stays away from external agents to cure any ailment and chiropractic is a form of alternate medicine which mainly treats the spine. A chiropractor believes that the disorders of the spine directly affect the general health of a person via the nervous system. These neuromuscular disorders, therefore, should be treated and removed at the root. A chiropractor does not use any kind of drugs or substances to treat the issue at hand but believes in using manual adjustment and manipulation of the spine to produce effects. Its founder, D.D. Palmer, called chiropractic 'a science of healing without drugs.'

Chiropractic is the largest alternate medicine profession with an average chiropractor in Australia earning around seventy six thousand Australian dollars per year, depending on the level of education. Chiropractic treatments can target many diseases without any surgical or medicinal interference like: lower back pain, leg pain, neck pain, headaches, arthritic pain, injuries due to accidents.

The Chiropractic Process

The most common therapeutic treatment practiced by chiropractors is spinal manipulation. A chiropractor adjusts and manipulates the vertebrae which are showing abnormal movement patterns, unhealthy positions etc. The technique is mainly used to cure lower back pain and involves three parts with the first part being the action taken by the chiropractor and the next two being the reactions elicited by the first part.

The first part is where a high velocity arm thrust is applied to a vertebra which is showing abnormal behavior. The thrust is applied is a short lever arm thrust which has noticeable benefits. This causes an immediate sensation of relief in the patient who feels a minor discomfort because of the trust for a few seconds but experiences a relieving sensation most of the time.

There are many other techniques used for spine manipulation by chiropractors. There could be certain side effects from receiving spine manipulation treatment by a chiropractor, the most common of which being post treatment soreness of the spine. The soreness, typically, does not last longer than 24 hours and is nothing an ice pack treatment would not comfort.
