Botox Information

What is Botox?

Botox is a cosmetic injection system which offers a way to keeping skin youthful for a long time. It is the most popular form of cosmetic surgery in the world. The injections can help individuals with wrinkles and lines on the face to make skin look younger and much more vibrant.

The Botox which is injected into your face is derived from a toxin called Botulinum Toxin A which is produced by the bacteria Clostrodium botulinum.
The name Botox comes from the name of the neurotoxin. Since it is a toxin, it is highly recommended to look for a licensed professional to inject the substance into your skin.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by paralyzing the muscles underneath the treated area and blocking certain nerves. This disables the muscles and they cannot move freely, and once they relax, the wrinkles and lines get smoothened out. Effects of Botox are temporary and last only for a couple of months.

Uses of Botox

Botox can not only be used for the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines but the chemical can also be used to reduce the sweating in certain regions of the body.

Botox, when injected in these areas, paralyzes the sweat glands which causes a radical decrease in the amount of sweat being produced in that region.

Botox cannot help treat the wrinkles which are caused by the sun.
The treatment only works on the lines caused by muscle movement and by paralyzing the said muscles thus reducing the appearance of these lines.

Botox can also be used to narrow down the jaw and make the face look leaner and slimmer. Its effects typically last between 3 to 4 months.
